A comprehensive project carried out by Solid Forest
At Solid Forest, we developed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Primafrio, the European leader in international road transport of temperature-controlled products, which allowed us to rigorously evaluate the environmental impacts associated with its refrigerated transport service. With a fleet of over 2,500 trucks, Primafrio has established itself as a leader in the logistics sector.
Project objective
Develop an Environmental Footprint Declaration based on the LCA methodology in order to:
- Quantify the environmental impacts generated by the complete service cycle.
- Integrate the results into the Environmental Footprint Institute reports.
- Provide a solid tool for decision-making and continuous improvement.
What exactly do we do?
1. Data collection and structuring
We analyze in detail key operational information of the refrigerated transport service:
- Energy and fuel consumption.
- Distances traveled and type of routes.
- Technical characteristics of the fleet.
- Factors associated with refrigeration and maintenance.
2. Life cycle modeling
We apply international LCA standards to model each stage of the service:
- Fuel production and extraction.
- Operation and vehicle use phase.
- Maintenance processes.
- Impacts associated with the logistics chain and refrigeration.
3. Calculation of environmental footprints
We develop the carbon footprint and the water footprint, ensuring methodological coherence with the standards of the Environmental Footprint Institute.
4. Environmental Footprint Declaration
The final result was a technical document that:
- Summarizes the environmental impacts evaluated.
- Presents the results of the LCA in a structured and verifiable manner.
- Facilitates its use as a communication and certification tool.
